Over 174,000 gas cookers recalled due to an oven fault that could cause burns

More than 174,000 Frigidaire gas ranges are being recalled across the United States and Canada. The ovens can experience delayed ignition, which may cause sudden flare-ups and could lead to serious burns. The recall affects many households; owners should act quickly.
What’s wrong and how the maker is reacting
The fault is with the oven’s baking burner, which can take longer than it should to ignite. If that happens, opening the oven door might trigger a sudden rush of heat or flames, creating a burn hazard. Electrolux Group, the Swedish manufacturer of Frigidaire, has launched a repair campaign. The company says it will fix the affected ovens free of charge and said customer safety is its top priority (according to an Electrolux spokesperson).
Which units are affected and where they were sold
The recall covers over 174,000 units sold in the United States and Canada between June 2025 and January 2026. If you bought a range from retailers such as Home Depot or Lowe’s, or from the Frigidaire online store, stop using the oven immediately. A list of specific models has been published to help owners check their units, including:
- FCFG3083AS
- FCRG3083AD
- GCRG3060BF
- PCFG3080AF
- among others.
What owners should do now
If you have one of the affected models, stop using the oven and use the top burners until it is repaired. The recall is being overseen by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Electrolux has provided guidance to check your model and serial number, the affected serial numbers run from VF52200000 to VF54399999, so you can confirm eligibility for a repair. Electrolux has also set up a dedicated helpline and a web portal to help with verification and booking repairs.
How repairs will be handled and who pays
Repairs will involve replacing the faulty baking burner and will be carried out in your home free of charge. Trained, authorised technicians will perform the work. Electrolux is working with retail partners to notify customers who bought the affected models.
Ongoing oversight and public updates
The CPSC is monitoring the recall and will update the public with any relevant information. The recall follows a series of large appliance recalls in 2024.
If you think you might have an affected range, check your model and serial number and book the free repair as soon as possible to reduce any risk.
